The denouement

Hey guys,  it's Yada and I am back in Toronto.  "It's back to reality.  opps.  There goes gravity." - emimem

As you know, the trip to Asia was a graduation gift from my parents to see the world before I start work.  I finally picked up my degree last weekend.  Yes, it feels good to be done.

My parents.  Thank you for footing the tuition bill.

My classmates.  I could have said the picture was taken in Asia and you wouldn't even know the difference.  haha.

For those who still care.

Hello. Eric here with a quick update on what I'm doing in Hong Kong. (What the hell am I still doing here?) As I promised, I'm mooching net access from the Hong Kong Central Library. This place is quite the beast with 4 stories full of literature goodness including Chinese and English books so I guess it's needs to be big. The weather in HK is still freaking hot where walking around topless is not frowned upon, (if you're a dude) it's a necessity. I have pretty much decided to spend the whole day here chilling with my homies Fyodor Dostoevsky and Aldous Huxley (Ya, I'm kinda fiending for the classics) in order to sharpen up on my english cause I think I'm losing it a bit. Yesterday I went back to where I used to live 15 years ago here in HK. The trip down memory lane was amazing considering not much has changed. A restaurant we always went to and a plaza in which my cousins used to chase me through is still there. Although the basketball court in which my Dad and I used to shoot hoops at is now the ground floor of an office building. *boooo* Anyway, can't wait to get back and lounge Canadian style (ie. watch hockey).

Go Leafs Go.

The End

AsiaTrip2006 is nearing its end as Yada is about to begin his journey bounded for home back in Toronto. Wish him luck because his 20+ hour trip (which includes stoppages in Tokyo and Chicago) is gonna be one hell of an ass-numbing marathon. Eric on the other hand has decided to remain here in Hong Kong for another few weeks since his family is making it real tough for him to leave so quickly. There are still many friends and family members that wish to see him before he takes off back to Canada. We would both like to thank everyone for checking out our site and for adding some input as well. Having you guys chime in once in a while sure did help with the whole being home sick thing, (although watching Leafs highlights doesn't help one bit). But nonetheless, we had an amazing and unforgettable time in which we learned a great deal. We can only hope that we will be back here to this side of the world in the not so distant future. It may be backwards at times compared to North America but its either really interesting or funny as hell. If you guys like, check up on the site once in a while as Eric may make random posts here and there when he decides to mooch net access from either the library or the nearby Starbucks. But for now, it is AsiaTrip2006 signing out. See you guys back home.

Eric and Yada.

Kuala Lumpur!!

Hey everyone. EML here to make an express post before we gotta head out. Lets see, where do I start? The last few days spent here in Kuala Lumpur has been an awesome time. I have an uncle who has been living here for the past 7 years so he's been having his cronies show us around and party with us at clubs. The best part about this city for me hands down are the people. They are super down to earth and are just the most genuine people I have met on this trip. Hopefully we can keep in touch with the friends we've made here cause without them our visit to KL wouldn't be half as much fun.

The dude in the middle is Ray who has shown and taught us so much about KL. This guy is the man.

The food in all it's spicy goodness. So good but yet so dangerous. I love it.

This is Pinky. She's very nice. :)

p.s. Camillie. I think you'll enjoy KL. Although, our trips would be quite different. Ya see, we spent most of the nights (and mornings) in karaoke bars, clubs and discos. And the afternoons resting up for the next night. But ya, it's super here. Come!

Cambodian recap part 2

Currently I am eating the complimentary hotel breakfast.  I enjoy eating different food when I travel.  Definitely must hit the gym when this vacation is over.

Being a morning person I usually wake up earlier than Eric.   Since the lobby of my hotel has pretty good wifi and I have some time to kill, I am going to make a post on the food I ate in Cambodia last week.

The Fruits

I love fruits.  A trip to Asia isn't complete without trying all the fruits.  In the picture you can see durian, large mellons and rambutan.

fresh coconut juice.  According to my Lonely Planet if you can't find bottled water, drinking coconut juice is the next best thing.   It was only 1000 riel which is about 25 cents.

Sugar cane juice.  This is my favourite drink on the trip.  Maybe my favourite drink of all time.

Guava.  This is the asian version of the apple.  Guava usually cost about $4 each in canada... so I took advantage will in cambodia.  It is interesting to note that Apple in asia is consider an exotic fruit so it is pretty expensive.

Lotus flower.  We can eat the lotus seed.  It taste like peanut.

Banana rice cake wrapped in banana leaf.

Typical Cambodian dish

If you were to ask me what is Cambodian food I would say this is it.  It called "Bant Chiav".  The wrapping is made of some sort of egg mixture.  Inside is usually shrimps, vegetable and a lot herbs.  It is eaton with fish sauce.

Pho

Fish jerky.  With the Mekong River, Cambodia has a large fish industry.  Fish jerky is one of the delicacy of Cambodia.

Egg plant with meat.  It tasted better than it looks.

A bit on the exotic side

Grilled squid.  Very yummy with all the herbs and the sauce they provided.  I ate this dish in one of the food stall.  I enjoy eating local food.

Probably the most exotic dish I ate.  Wild boar stew.  It tasted like chicken.  kidding.  It tasted just like regular pork just a bit tougher.
